Nacsport is compatible with a wide variety of 3rd-party programs, platforms and files. One of these is Wyscout, one of the largest sports video and data providers in the world.

In this blog, we’ll explain how to download data and videos from Wyscout and import it into Nacsport to take your game analysis to the next level.

So, let’s get started…

Download Video and Data from Wyscout

The first step in the process is, of course, to download what you need from the Wyscout platform. Find the videos and the XML files that you need and download them to your computer.

When downloading the XML files, Wyscout will offer you various options before download begins. Select the options which suit you best and complete the download.

Check out this video if you want a more visual walkthrough of this process:

How to Import Data and Video to Nacsport

Ok, let’s open Nacsport. In the main menu, click on the options menu and select:

Tools > Import > Import XML

This window will open:

XML, JSON

Select the XML file you downloaded from Wyscout. Before importing, Nacsport allows you to select and customise the categories and descriptors that will be imported.

Analysis .nac

Select a location to save the analysis. This will be created using the imported Wyscout data and in the .nac format. Choose a name for your file.

Video

Select the video that you downloaded from Wyscout in order to link it to the analysis data.

After completing these three steps click Open Timeline. The data and video will be imported into Nacsport and you’ll be able to start filtering clips and working with the data on the Nacsport timeline.

Advantages of Using Nacsport in Conjunction with Wyscout Data

You’ll be able to work with this data in exactly the same way as any other analysis you’ve completed in Nacsport. The only difference is that, instead of collecting the game data yourself, you download it from the Wyscout platform.

So, what can you do with this data? Let’s take a look…

Work on the Timeline

The timeline is the hub of your analysis. It shows all your video clips in chronological order and separated into categories.

From the timeline, you can access a host of specialised tools for completing an in-depth, professional analysis.

Check out this video for a full walkthrough of the features that can be found on the timeline:

The Data Matrix

The data matrix is an extremely powerful tool for organising and filtering your data. In the basic matrix, data is displayed in a table which separates your categories (rows) and descriptors (columns).

Each intersecting cell shows the number of clips which contain a combination of this category and descriptor. The matrix is also interactive - clicking on the number in the cell will open the video player so you can view these particular clips.

As we said, this is the basic matrix, but there are many other features which make this an essential video analysis tool. Features such as the dynamic matrix, custom matrix and multiple matrix make this indispensable for filtering and working with your data.

Check out this video for a full breakdown of all the different features:

Presentations

The presentations environment in Nacsport gives you all the tools you need for sharing your analysis insights with players and coaches.

Filter the clips you’ve downloaded from Wyscout using the timeline tools, select the ones which are most pertinent to your team and send them to presentation.

Here you can organise your presentation into different lists where you can add external videos, slides and transitions. You can then present your findings directly from Nacsport or export a video to be shared with your team. We’ve even got an online platform called Hub which can be used to share your video insights quickly and effortlessly.

Again, these are the basics of presentations, take a look at the following video for a more in-depth look at the more advanced tools in this environment:

More Nacpsort Tools for Working with Wyscout Data

We’ve really only scratched the surface with what you can do with Nacsport. Here’s a quick overview of some of the other powerful tools that can help turn Wyscout data into winning insights for you and your team:

•    Dashboards. Visualise your data with interactive graphs, charts and labels which are connected directly to the video player for yet more quick filtering.

•    Multiple angles. Have your own video footage of the game? Incorporate it into your analysis for easy comparison with Wyscout videos and to get a fuller view of the game. Switch between different angles with ease or watch them all simultaneously.

•    Clip filter. A powerful tool for searching through multiple analyses to obtain the exact data you need in an instant.

•    Integrated telestrator. Use KlipDraw to add drawings to your videos. Improve communication and make your messages clearer. Fully integrated into Nacsport, KlipDraw is a powerful tool which allows you to add animated sequenced drawings and even full motion tracking to your clips.

•    Export to Excel. Transform your analysis into data that can be used with 3rd-party visualisation software such as Power BI and Tableau.

•    Nacsport Hub. As we mentioned previously, share your work quickly and easily with our online video analysis platform, Hub. Share your insights quickly and easily and improve communication at your club.
