If you are going to purchase a new video camera for your video analysis workflows, at Nacsport we highly recommend you check that the selected device can record to the internal card (or hard drive) whilst also still providing the HDMI output at the same time.
Although this is the usual procedure in the great majority of video cameras, we have recently come across the Panasonic HC-V550 video camera with one of our users, which does not provide a HDMI signal when recording onto the internal card (or hard drive).

This simultaneous recording to the internal card (or hard drive) and output of a HDMI signal is very useful for backup reasons. It’s always advisable to record onto the camera’s internal card (or hard drive) at the same time as doing a real time capture onto your computer. "It’s better to be safe than sorry!"
