3 minute readThe 8th Nacsport Networking conference attracted almost 60 analysts and coaches from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. This was our fourth event devoted entirely to football and the biggest yet, bringing together some of the smartest minds in the game from Spain, the UK, Portugal and Morocco.
After a short meet and greet over breakfast, invited guests were addressed by our CTO Alberto Rodríguez, who presented a summary of recent updates plus his plans for new features and functionality over the coming twelve months.
Feedback is at the heart of our development work as a resource to analysts. So the conversation generated after Alberto’s summary gave us plenty to think about, as guests discussed the problems they face and their opinions on our latest developments including; dual capture video, real-time data sharing and greater integration with our graphical toolbox, KlipDraw.
Lunch was a chance to catch up with former colleagues, meet new friends and connect with other professionals. While it’s growing at an incredible rate, the world of sports analysis is still relatively small and there’s a genuine sense of community within the profession. So it was great to see representatives from so many major clubs freely discussing how they do their job and sharing ideas.
Just time for a quick Nacsport family photo (see above) before heading back to the afternoon session, where again the spirit of openness was in full view, as analysts from Girona and Real Betis led two workshops on their work with Nacsport.
Daniel Muñoz first team analyst at Real Betis - began with a compelling presentation detailing his use of Nacsport for real-time data sharing, between analysts and coaches. Reina and his team of analysts at Real Betis, have established a system of almost immediate communication with the bench, enabling coaches to micro adjust tactics and strategy during a game.
Next, German Rodriguez, head of analysis at Girona FC spoke about his coaching team’s use of Nacsport in their work with the club’s youth academy. German has pioneered innovative new workflows that focus on the individual skills of younger players and their development - work that has attracted the attention of clubs at every level.
With plenty of talking points to consider, we concluded the day with an open discussion on Reina and Rodriguez’s work. This turned out to be exceptionally productive, both for the analysts in attendance and for us. As the creators of Nacsport, we’re committed to providing the most comprehensive analytical tool possible, making this type of feedback - directly related to the work of our users - vital for us as developers.
We will be running more of these open networking events throughout the year, explaining our plans for the Nacsport suite of tools and directly addressing the challenges and requirements of analysts across a number of sports. Stay tuned to our social media for dates and destinations near you.
