Recently, we’ve been having many conversations with our users about the accessibility of Nacsport for new and old users alike. One of the biggest issues we encountered was the use of language in the program.
We found that some of the terms we use to talk about our own particular brand of video analysis were less than ideal and that, in some cases, they generated some level of confusion.
So, we’ve taken your thoughts onboard and decided to remedy these problems. Today, we release a new version of the software which contains an updated English language User Interface (UI).
We believe that these changes will make the software easier to understand and much more accessible to everyone. So, read on to learn about these changes…
Goodbye Registering, Hello Tagging
So, the use of the words “Register” and “Registering” seemed to be the biggest issue that was flagged up to us.
The main reason that this caused confusion, especially for new users, was that “register” was used as both a noun and verb when we spoke about video analysis.
• “You register (v.) a game video to create registers (n.) that can be analysed on the timeline”.
And, yes, we get it. That’s why we’ve changed the verb “register” to the more industry-friendly term “tag”. On the other side of the coin, the noun “register” has been changed to “clip” which, again, is much more clear.
• “You tag a game video to create clips which can be analysed on the timeline”.
Much clearer, we’re sure you’ll agree!
How This Change Affects the UI
Well, this small change alone has had a massive impact on the software, which you’ll see as soon as you open the software. Here are a few changes you can see in the main Nacsport menu:
• Register from File becomes Tag Video
• Register Without Video Source becomes Tag Without Video
• Real-Time Register becomes Tag Live Video
So, as you can see, this change has had a fundamental effect on how we speak about conducting a video analysis with Nacsport. A change that we believe will make the discipline much more accessible to all our users.
But this isn’t the only change…
Other Nacsport UI Changes
If you already use Nacsport, you probably noticed that there are other changes that we’ve applied to the UI.
• Button Template becomes Tagging Window.
You can see this in the image above where it says “Open Tagging Window” and “New Tagging Window”.
Again, we believe this to be a much more descriptive and user-friendly term.
• My Analysis becomes View Analysis.
Not a huge difference, but, again, a little bit more descriptive, as is the case for all the changes.

How to Apply the Update
Remember that in order to apply this update, your Support and Update Service payments must be fully up-to-date. If this is not the case, please contact our sales team to discuss this.
In all other cases, follow these steps:
A) With automatic updates enabled
The next time you open Nacsport, an “Update Available” message will appear. Download, install and…that’s it.
B) With Automatic Updates Disabled
On the main Nacsport menu, click “Help” and then “Check for Updates”. Download, install, and you’re good to go.

So, there you have it, a list of all the big changes to the interface. At the same time, we’ve done a bit of housekeeping, tidying up some formatting issues, etc.
Overall, we believe these are positive changes that will aid understanding for everyone. We fully understand that Nacsport veterans may find these changes a little confusing to begin with, but it shouldn’t take you long to get the hang of it.
