Pau Martí Vicente works in Hong Kong as the analyst for Kitchee FC and also the national team. A Nacsport user for almost a year now, he is very satisfied with the experience abroad and his work in both organisations, where he counts on the support of Nacsport.
Tell us about your professional career. Where did you start in Spain and how did you end up in Hong Kong?
I have a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Science (INEF Barcelona) and I am a national football coach. After being with FC Barcelona Youth Teams for eight years, I was offered an opportunity to move to Hong Kong and be responsible for the Kitchee FC youth teams, as their first team was trained by a former FC Barcelona colleague, Josep Gombau. One year after my arrival, I was asked by the Hong Kong football federation to collaborate with them as assistant coach and video analyst without having to leave Kitchee.
How does Hong Kong like football? How is your experience there?
I am from a country where the passion for football is high (maybe too much). Yet, in Hong Kong, football is focused in a particular portion of the population. I am enjoying the experience here so much, though I have had to adapt to their work culture. Here, fun and postivie moods are more important than thoroughness, but my commitment is to transmit more modern values and methodologies. It is very difficult to change it in the short-term, but we will reap the benefits in the longer term.
What level of importance do they give to technology in professional sport?
To be honest, Hong Kong is not yet in that level of professionalism and perhaps I am not wrong if I say that I am the only coach here using this kind of program.
How does video analysis help professional teams?
In my opinion, video analysis does not imply a help itself, but the useness you give to it. Using it properly, I really consider that it allows approach between coach and players in order to structure a game model and to comprehend the game itself. I also consider video analysis tools as a key factor to optimize time when scouting rivals.
How long have you been using Nacsport software?
I have had a Nacsport license for a year, but I have been regularly working with it since I started with the national Hong Kong team.
How would you rate your Nacsport experience?
Positive when you know that you are contributing to the coaches and players. I am lucky to work with a national team and I think this chance arrived because I know about the program, but it is also important to share the coach's style and game model to carry it out in the best way possible.
What would you say stands out about the software?
I would highlight that even with affordable programs you can obtain remarkable results.
Is the Nacsport Support service important for you?
It is. Mainly when I started to use the program, it was nice to feel supported as it was a new software for me and I had some questions. There is nothing bad I can say about the support service!
